  1. hi brave lemming,

you left a question about tents on my flickr. we have an exped venus II extreme. I have not had a big problem with condensation with this tent, but in the right conditions (humidity and temperature) all tents will get condensation. This is a pretty big tent for 1 person so more dificult to warm up on a cold night. We have slept in this tent for approximately 400 nights over the last 5 years and have only had bad condensation for maybe 5 or 10 of these. We also use down sleeping bags with a water resistent shell on the foot and hood. this helps a lot compared to my older down sleeping bags. I have also owned other tents (macpac, MSR) and the exped has performed better than these for condensation when used by 2 people.

anyway all the best in your future bicycle travels.

    cheers
    aaron

  2. Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your answer to my query and sorry that I mixed you up with another girl from Australia who wrote me about my Exped tent. I am following your flickr since you met my Brazilian friend Tomaz in Turkey. He said you’re cycling from Australia.

I actually never thought that being 2 person in the tent would help against humidity. This is good news because this year we’re going to be 2 🙂
I’m also planning to get a groundsheet which covers the vestibules as well.
Except this condensation problem, I absolutely love my Exped tent.

    Enjoy your travel,
    JP

  3. Bonjour

  4. Bonjour,
    JP

  5. Hey guys, your comment on my blog made me laugh!! Glad you have enjoyed the photos thus far. Yeah, Turkey last year was stupidly cold. « The worst winter in 50 years » I was often told. I still have all my fingers and toes so it could not have been that bad 😉 Other people I know went through Turkey in winter a year earlier and it was not a problem. If it is stupidly cold when you arrive in East Turkey this coming winter, look into cycling northern Iraq as an option depending which way you go through Turkey. Some people did it last year during the winter, it was far more mild in Iraq, very safe and really good fun. If I had have known it was an option I would have gone that way. Just keep it in mind if you want to stay out of the mountains in East Turkey. Another idea is to stay on the north coast of Turkey as far as you can. Only go up into the mountains when you have to. Very good gloves and socks are essential in the Turkish mountains.

Any other questions or queries just ask ok. All the very best. I look forward to seeing how your adventure goes.

  18. Hi guys!

we are Eugene and Mary from Saint Petersburg, Russia. We have just found your amazing photos on Flickr, and then got here and read some of your diaries. Your trip looks exactly like our perfect dream that we hope to make real one day.

It was very disappointing to read about your attempt to get russian visa. We are quite ashamed of bureaucracy in our country. Preventing people from visiting such a big and beautiful part of the world for no reason is a crime.

So we just want to tell you: if you are still interesting in Russia, and need any assistance, we can help you to get an invitation from Russian citizen, maybe it can be useful for getting visa. And we will be happy to invite you to our small but cozy flat. We love guests and travellers 🙂

    Sorry for lame english!

  19. Hi Eugene and Mary, thanks a lot for your nice message !
I wish our adventure will inspire you to live your dream one day 🙂

  20. Salut JP!!
Kendine iyi bak (take care comme on dit ici 😉 )
